What is the meaning of DPCO and full form ?

DPCO is the drug prices control order and this is an order from the Government of India which was put into effect since the early 1960s.What is essentially does is regulate the prices of medicines so that all types of people,even the poor can buy it easily.Drugs/Medicines are considered to be an “essential commodity”- meaning it is necessary for the sustenance of life,just like food produce is.

It was noticed that private drug manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies were pricing their medicines too high,and in order to control this the DPCO was formulated.
