Question 1 – How safe is Henna for hair?
As long as you are buying the organic variant that is just a powdered plant extract,it is very safe. A good suggestion is to buy smaller locally produced brands rather that a big brand name, so the chances of it being mixed with chemicals is less. Also before purchasing, check the contents and ingredients to make sure its 100% organic and natural. What you need to watch out for is an active agent called PPD that is synthetic and sometimes causes allergies.
Question 2- How to remove henna after applying it?
A luke warm water shower or hand shower is good enough to remove the denser grit that has hardened. After that a mix of shampoo and conditioner and an alternate cool water wash will get rid of most of the smaller dried particles.Refer to the complete guide to remove henna wash by a shampoo.

Yes, in fact i would stretch it to its almost a must. Question 4 – Can u put another color on your henna hair?
After a few weeks if you want to experiment with another hair highlight color, you definitely can. Two things to keep in mind before that – 1.Make sure the henna that was put was pure organic so that it wont cause any conflict with another dye in future and so that your follicle wont bear the brunt of it. 2. check to see by experimenting on a small strand first , as to the end result color of the new dye on a henna colored strand.Sometimes when the henna color and another are pasted one on another, the resultant color is not quite what is desired, just like mixing two paints. Depending on the redness of the original layer of henna that was used, the final outcome may vary.
Question 5 – How long to keep henna in the hair for?
If you keep it for an hour to two hours, it should give you the desired results. Some henna when kept for shorter duration give a lighter hue and for longer hours give a rich deep red tone, so depending on your preference you can keep it on.
Question 6- Are there side effects to putting henna?
for most people there isn’t any, however in certain cases henna that has applied to the scalp for a long time dries out the skin to the point of flaking, itching and redness. Henna naturally extrudes heat and should be washed off within a 2 hours frame.People with skin conditions should refrain from using it as it can adversely aggravate it.
Question 7- Are there any hair growth benefits to henna?
There is no documented benefits associated with henna however it helps if you have naturally oily hair to balance the problem by combining with the secreted oils to give drier hair. Some varieties of organic henna are known to soften hair and act as a natural hair conditioner.

It takes about 1 year for your hair to grow 6 inches, that is the time your henna dye grow out.Applying a new coat of henna to newly grown hair wont cause any problems, assuming it is organic and not the PPD infused variant. Those contain harmful chemicals and shouldn’t be used often, but the original henna plant extract is even known to be nourishing for your follicles.
