What is the meaning of HYV and full form ?

High yielding variety of seeds are those which are of better quality as compared to normal seeds that are planted for commercial agricultural purposes. These seeds do not require much care and irrigation and produce a surplus crop of high quality. They are more resistant to disease and insects therefore produce a larger volume of crop, directly increasing the commercial profit for the farmer.
