What is the meaning of NPT and full form ?

This was a treaty signed by many nuclear powers many decades ago that aimed to stop the production and spread of nuclear weapons.In the 60s there was an arms race as well as stock piling of nuclear arsenal which could have triggered another world war.The NPT setup by the UN tried to avoid this.
