What does FOSDIC mean or stand for ?

Film Optical Sensing Device for Input to Computers is a mechanical device that was used way back when computers were still in their infancy.Its main task was to convert data that was recorded on microfilm and transfer it onto computer readable magnetic film.Microfilm had lots of disadvantages and also used up more physical space to store data hence it was not preferred.
