Eligibility for UPSC civil services exam

The following eligibility criteria must be met inorder to apply for the examination.

1.The candidate should be a citizen of india,nepal,bhutan or a tiebtan refugee who cam to settle in india.Others who migrated from other countries are also eligible but need to produce ceritficate of eligibility.

2.The candidate should be between the ages of 21 to 30 years of age as on August 1,2012.There is a relaxation for SC/ST-5 years,OBC-3 years,Ex serviceman-5 years and 10 years for PWD

3.Candidate should be a graduate in any field from a recognised institute.The maximum number of tries for the exam is 4-unreserved,7-pwd,7-obc and no limit for sc/st.

UPSC civil services exam selection,structure and syllabus

In order for successful entry into civil services,the candidates must pass two exams.A preliminary exam in May and Main exam in November.In the preliminary exam there are two papers that have to be answered.They are objective type questions with multiple choice.The paper 1 is general questions  and paper 2 is an aptitude based questions.The time limit for each paper is two hours and carries a weightage of 200 marks each.

General Science, Current Events of National and International importance, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social development and General Issues on Environment.

Paper 2

English Language Comprehension, Interpersonal Skills, Logical Reasoning, Analytical reasoning, General mental ability, Numerical ability.

On the main menu ,we are presented with both optioisns for part 1 and part 2 registrations.Lets start with part one registration first.After we get the registration number from part 1,we can enter it into part two and continue.
