IPS Eligibility Criteria 2018, Age Limit and Qualification for (Indian Police Service)

Nationality Eligibility

You can only be a citizen of India to appear for IPS exam.Even for IAS posting you can only be a citizen of India.For other UPSC postings it is ok for you to be from other countries in the Indian Sub Continent but NOT for IPS and IAS.

AGE ELIGIBILITY

You have to be at least 21 years of age and maximum 32 years of age to appear for a UPSC exam posting related to IPS.

For SC/ST age is extended by 5 years more

For OBC it is extended by 3 years more

For J & K domicile extended by 5 years

 

Educational Qualification eligibility

You need to have a degree from a recognized university approved by UGC or approved university or educational institution by the Act of the Central or State Legislature in India

 

Number of attempts

The maximum number of attempts to appear for a UPSC civil services is 6 attempts for general candidates

For SC/ST candidates this maximum attempts is not applicable

For OBC candidates this maximum number of attempts is 9

Physical Eligibility

You need to go to the designated hospital and get your physical and medical test done.
