CAPD full form

What does CAPD mean or stand for ?

CAPD is a type of dialysis where a dialysis solution is filled into your abdomen and it is washed out after a few hours.This cycle happens few times in a day and is more efficient as compared to a normal haemo dialysis where the patient is hooked upto the machine.

This is a the reason it is called continuous because the waste is being removed from the body many times during a 24 our period.This means salts and other waste is cleared from the blood faster and gives more relief to the heart and keeps the blood pressure in check also.
