RECOMMENDATION LETTER FOR HIGHER STUDIES

RECOMMENDATION LETTER FOR HIGHER STUDIES

Your admission process  to college requires 3 important academic reports:

1.Statement of Purpose-Written by yourself

2.Transcript-Written by your high school/junior college

3.Recommendation Letter-Written by a faculty member

Read – How to write a Professional Reference letter

Read – How to write a Personal / Character  Reference letter

Read-How to decline / turn down a Refernce letter request

Recommendation letter for higher studies has more weight age in the eyes of the dean of admissions in the institute you’re trying to enroll into. This is because of the fact that the SOP is written by yourself and maybe biased, but the recommendation letter is written by a fellow teacher/professor to another teaching professional. Therefore  there is more credibility given to a recommendation letter for this reason, because it is just and unbiased. The dean of admissions or admission in charge will trust such a letter much more, so its important that it paints a pretty picture of you, if it has to impress the and get you a seat in college.

Few points to include always in your recommendation letter:

1.A few instances or examples of extra curricular activities. Mention an outdoor project or an inter school event that took place and you excelled in it. This shows that not only do you have academic ability, but an all round development.

2.Mention High Scores ,prizes, trophies, certificates. Show off all your achievements. All colleges want winners not losers.

3.Words like “sincere” ,“dedication”, ”whole heartedly” should be included in the passage to portray good character for  the student

4.Lastly in the ending lines the teacher must mention that he/she can be contacted in future with regards to this letter if the need should arise.

Sub: Recommendation for higher studies

Dear Sir,

I am writing to you in support of Mr. Abc and his desire to attend your university for the graduate program. Though many students ask me to make this request on their behalf, I only recommend students whom I think are well suited for the program of their choice. Abc is one of those students ad therefore, I highly recommend  that he be given the opportunity to attend your university.

As a lecturer at St. Paul’s Institute of Education, I have worked with many students over a period of time. each year I notice that only a few outstanding students offer a unique perspective and really embrace their learning of the subject matter.Abc has consistently shown such a strong desire to learn that i simply could not turn down his request for recommendation.

Abc has always showed enthusiasm for furthering his knowledge and skills. I remember once when on a outdoor trip, abs walking along with me and asking what he could do next after completion of the Course to enhance his career prospects. At that time itself, I had thought that here is one student here who will keep on growing and learn new things.

I also knew abc a little better than most other students because he had opted for “Environmental Education” as an optional paper which I teach. He showed keen interest in issues related to the environment and chose to do a project on “air pollution”. The work clearly showed his ability to deliver a clear, concise and well thought of project with a new perspective by demonstrating its harmful effects on children.

Abs worked hard with passion and dedication throughout the course especially during the weeks of practice teaching and internship in schools. He scored 64.45% in the final examination of the Bachelor of Education course. He was evaluated on practice teaching sessions, internship, written assignments and a written examination which he performed well, thus earning him a First Class.

Abs continues to impress me with his knowledge, skill and dedication to his work. I’m sure you will find him to be a student whose talents will only shine further through your graduate program. It is my hope that you accept his admission to your university. Feel free to contact me if you require further information.

Sincerely,

Mrs. xxxx

Lecturer,
