Assam is situated in the North East of India and is one of the most progressive states in the country in terms of a developing economy especially in the north east due to its tea industries and booming agriculture sector. Although the native population of this state are tribals and they rely on agriculture and cottage industries as their main source of income, the newer generation will try to get a professional education.

There are 4 engineering colleges of good repute in this tiny state in the North Eastern hills which says alot about how much the people of Assam regard education. Engineering is a hard degree to complete and these engineering colleges are situated mostly in the districts of Kamrup and Jorhat,both of which are progressively being developed and has seen a large number of industries setup here.

Eligibility into an Assam engineering college

Due to the smaller number of engineering institutes in the state, there is a fair bit of competition in order to get admission into any one of these technical institutes. Admission is either through a systematic rounds of merit based on 10+2 marks or direct to a private institute based on a management seat which is hard to get.

Scope of engineering in Assam

As mentioned before there is alot of opportunity for students to get a job in the various agricultural sectors, industrial and production houses that are here in the state of Assam.However since computers and IT have also made good inroads and is the number one field of engineering and lots of industries need the skills of a Computer/IT engineer and recruit such graduates.
